Routine Foot Problems

Routine Podiatry/Chiropody treatment is generally carried out to reduce ongoing foot pathologies, including those of the nails and skin as well as other internal foot structures that may cause pain or discomfort.

A typical routine appointment involves nail care (cutting, filing and thinning as appropriate) and callus and corn removal from the feet and heels. If there is other pain or discomfort an assessment may be carried out to determine cause, and to find a solution.

Footcare, footwear and general health advice may be given to improve foot health and reduce recurrence of pathologies.

Verrucae

Verrucae are warts in the foot. They are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus, and in many cases are self-resolving as the body’s immune system takes care of them. Unless they become painful, thus restricting normal walking and standing, or start to spread, they can be left alone.

If they become problematic there are various options to help them resolve.

The treatments options we provide are mainly destructive to the verruca – for example salicylic acid, pyrogallol acid or monochloroacetic acid.
